Welcome to Camping Houtum, a place where peace, nature and a warm, informal atmosphere have gone hand in hand for more than fifty years. Our campsite is located just outside the centre of Kasterlee, in the heart of the Antwerp Kempen region, surrounded by fields, forests and the Kleine Nete river. You will not find crowds or luxury here, but you will find space, simplicity and a genuine welcome.
Camping Houtum is a third-generation family business. What started as a small campsite has grown into a well-established place to stay in Kasterlee. For more than fifty years, we have welcomed guests who come here to enjoy the outdoors – something we remain genuinely proud of. We still run the campsite with the same enthusiasm as in the early days, with care for our guests and respect for the place where we live and work ourselves.
You do not need your own camping equipment to stay with us. Our guests can choose from bungalows, chalets, tiny houses or fully equipped glamping tents, each with its own character and level of comfort. Whether you are planning a quiet weekend for two or a longer holiday with the whole family, you will stay right in the middle of nature, with everything you need for a relaxed stay in Kasterlee.
In this article, we explain our different accommodations and what you can expect during your stay at Camping Houtum.
Staying overnight in Kasterlee
Whether you are looking for a short break or planning a longer holiday, Camping Houtum offers comfortable accommodation in Kasterlee, surrounded by greenery. We have seven different accommodations, each with its own style, atmosphere and layout. From a compact cabin for two to spacious chalets for families, there is something to suit every type of stay.
We like to give our accommodations their own names, inspired by typical trees from the Kempen region. You can stay in the Rowan, the White Linden, the Poplar, the Great Oak or the Silver Birch. What they all share is a quiet location, surrounded by nature and away from traffic or crowds.
All accommodations are fully equipped, so you only need to bring your personal belongings. Bed linen and towels are provided, kitchen equipment is available, and everything is clean and ready upon arrival. You will also receive an information brochure about the campsite and the surrounding area, giving you a clear overview of what there is to see and do in Kasterlee and the Kempen.
The Rowan is our smallest accommodation, but also one of the most cosy. This compact cabin of 10 m² is located on the tent field, a quiet spot surrounded by greenery where you can fully enjoy the natural setting. It is ideal for guests who want to get away from it all without unnecessary fuss. Perfect for couples or two friends who value simplicity and peace.
Inside the cabin, you will find everything you need: a raised bed, fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee machine. Heating is provided, making the cabin comfortable even during colder months. Shower and toilet facilities are available in the main sanitary building, located directly opposite the accommodation.
You can park your car next to the cabin, making loading and unloading easy. The Rowan is well insulated and available all year round, including during the winter months.
The White Linden is a cosy tiny house of 24 m², suitable for up to four people. It is compact, practical and surprisingly comfortable. This accommodation is well suited for families with young children or guests looking for a quiet and easy stay in Kasterlee.
Inside, there is a small but well-equipped kitchen with a cooking hob, fridge, kettle, coffee machine and microwave. You will also find a sofa, air conditioning, television and a separate toilet. Shower facilities are available in the sanitary building, located just twenty metres away.
Thanks to good insulation and heating, the White Linden can be booked all year round, including during winter. Outside, there is a small terrace with seating, ideal for a quiet breakfast or a moment of fresh air.
Parking is available close to the accommodation. With its practical layout, cosy interior and location in the middle of nature, the White Linden is a place many guests enjoy returning to.
The Poplar is a stylish and comfortable chalet, designed with simplicity and ease in mind. Large windows bring in plenty of natural light and create a calm, open atmosphere, with views of the surrounding greenery.
This chalet is ideal for two adults and two children and is located close to the indoor and outdoor playgrounds of Domain De Putten, making it a pleasant base for families.
Inside, the interior feels light and relaxed, with natural materials and a smart layout. Children sleep in a raised sleeping area that feels playful yet safe, while parents enjoy a comfortable sleeping space of their own.
The kitchen is compact but fully equipped for everyday use. Shower and toilet facilities are located inside the chalet, offering extra comfort and privacy. Parking is available next to the accommodation. The Poplar is well insulated and heated, making it suitable for year-round stays.
The Great Oak is a spacious and comfortable chalet of 47 m², ideal for guests who appreciate extra space during their stay in nature. The accommodation has three bedrooms: one with a double bed and two with bunk beds. It is well suited for families or groups of friends who want to enjoy time together.
Inside, you will find a bright living area with two comfortable sofas and a television, a large dining table for long evenings of board games, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom is spacious and includes a shower, washbasin and toilet.
From the living area, you step directly onto the terrace overlooking the beach volleyball court and surrounding greenery. The covered veranda with outdoor table and chairs is a pleasant place to sit outside and unwind.
Due to the size of the chalet, parking is not available directly next to the accommodation, but there is parking nearby. The Great Oak is not available during the winter months and can only be booked during the camping season, with a minimum stay of two nights.
The Silver Birch is a modern and comfortable chalet of 45 m², finished in light, natural tones inspired by the birch tree. This accommodation sleeps up to six people and has three bedrooms. There are two Silver Birch chalets on the campsite, facing each other, each with its own garden and plenty of privacy.
Inside, you will find a cosy living area with a corner sofa and television. The high dining table with bar stools creates a relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen is fully equipped.
The bathroom includes a shower and washbasin, while the toilet is located separately. Large windows allow plenty of daylight to enter and create a calm, open feeling. From the living area, you step directly onto the terrace overlooking the surrounding greenery.
Each chalet has its own parking space. The Silver Birch is well insulated and heated, making it suitable for comfortable stays throughout the year.
Glamping in nature
Looking for the real camping experience, but with a little extra comfort? At Camping Houtum, you can stay in one of our fully equipped glamping tents, where everything is ready upon arrival. Whether you stay for one night or plan a longer holiday, you can enjoy outdoor living without the hassle of setting up a tent or bringing camping equipment.
Our safari tents, the Willow, are located on a spacious grassy field with views of the pumpkin field and the horse meadow. From the tent, you look out over the walking path that campers use during the summer on their way to the Kleine Nete. The tent sleeps four people and includes one bedroom with a double bed and a second bedroom with bunk beds.
Our tipi tents, the Tall Tree, are located on the tent field and also accommodate four people. The tents are fully furnished and equipped with four comfortable beds, allowing you to relax immediately after arrival and settle in without any preparation.
For shower and toilet facilities, you can use the main sanitary building located nearby. The glamping tents are available during the camping season and combine the authentic camping feeling with the comfort of a ready-to-use accommodation.
Modern and well-maintained sanitary facilities
Not every accommodation includes a private bathroom, but even then, you will not miss out on comfort during your stay. The campsite has two modern and well-maintained sanitary buildings, both located close to the accommodations.
They offer spacious toilets, showers and washing-up areas, all carefully maintained and heated. There is also a family shower, a baby area with a small bath and a separate space for guests with reduced mobility. For guests staying longer, a washing machine and dryer are available.
Thanks to underfloor heating, the sanitary facilities remain pleasantly warm even during colder months. This allows you to enjoy a comfortable stay all year round, even when staying in an accommodation without private shower or toilet facilities.
