Meet Our Team

For more than five generations, our family has been dedicated to creating an authentic camping experience. It all began with two men named Jan — the grandfather and father of the current owner — who built the campsite from the Houtum soil and left their mark on it. Before that, the great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather Van Eyck were active here as farmers.

Since 2011, the fifth generation, brothers Jakke and Vic, have been at the helm. As the campsite grew, so did the team — gradually expanding to include more family members and local residents who each contribute in their own way. In 2024, Jakke decided to pursue a new challenge, but through Vic and the family, the warm, familiar spirit of Camping Houtum continues to thrive.

Vic Van Eyck

Vic Van Eyck

Owner – Receptionist – Bartender

Vic keeps everything running smoothly in the main building, both at the reception and in Café de Congé. He’s strong on administration and always looking for new projects to improve the campsite.

You’ll find Vic everywhere: at the reception, behind the bar in Café de Congé, or outside on the grounds — walking around or riding his bike.

Vic and his wife Tinne are the proud parents of Annelotte and Zoë. Their favourite spot on the campsite is Domein De Putten

Hedwige

Hedwige Jacobs

Receptionist

Hedwige has become an essential part of our reception team. She welcomes our guests with a smile, waves them off at the end of their stay, provides all the information they need about the campsite and the surroundings, and even helps out with the occasional technical question.

You’ll mostly find Hedwige at the reception during the week.

She’s not only Vic’s right hand, but also his mother-in-law! And with her husband Paul helping out in Café de Congé during the season, one thing’s for sure — it’s truly 'All in the family'.

Victor

Victor Iancu

All-round Maintenance Assistant

Victor has been part of our team since 2012. Originally from Romania, he doesn’t speak Dutch fluently — but his friendly smile and helping hands say it all.

Victor is a true jack-of-all-trades. You’ll often see him driving around the campsite on the tractor or lawn mower, keeping everything neat and well maintained. He takes care of all kinds of tasks — big and small — with care and dedication.

Victor’s favourite travel destination? Quite simply, Romania!

Martiena

Martiena de Graaf

Receptionist - Marketing

Martiena is our Dutch all-rounder — you’ll find her both at the reception and in Café de Congé every week.

She manages our website and social media channels, keeping everyone up to date with what’s happening at Camping Houtum.

The rental accommodations are truly her domain. She takes care of everything: from coordinating our cleaning heroes to making sure every interior detail is just right.

Martiena is married to Jakke, and chances are you’ll see them around together on the campsite.

Vincent

Bartender

Vincent, our neighbour from Houtum, has become a familiar face at Café de Congé.

He is our regular bartender during the week and throughout the school holidays. Whether you're in the mood for a friendly chat, a refreshing Belgian beer, or a great cup of coffee, Vincent is always ready to welcome our guests with a smile.

Paul

Paul Cornelis

Bartender

Paul is our regular Sunday bartender. Besides his full-time job in the social sector, working at Café de Congé is a welcome change of pace — one he truly enjoys.

He’s Tinne’s father, married to Hedwige, and thus also Vic’s father-in-law.

Janne

Bartender & Housekeeping Hero

Janne is often behind the bar at Café de Congé on Saturdays. Besides that, she is also one of our regular housekeeping heroes, helping to keep our rental accommodations spotless.

We always appreciate team members who are happy to help in different areas of the campsite.

Sterre, Alexis, Mia and Liv

Our Housekeeping Heroes

Behind every spotless accommodation is a team we're incredibly proud of: our housekeeping heroes. As we expanded our range of rental accommodations, we were looking for extra helping hands. The response to our call was overwhelming, allowing us to grow our housekeeping team straight away.

Together, they make sure every accommodation is clean, fresh, and ready to welcome our next guests. We are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

Unfortunately, not everyone could be in the photo. Besides these four stars, Janne, Amélie, Cara and Kim are also part of our amazing housekeeping team.

Jan Van Eyck

Founder

Jan is the father of Jakke and Vic — and one of the two Jans who founded the campsite back in 1975. He started the project together with his own father, with the full support of the entire Van Eyck family.

Although Jan now has many activities outside the campsite, he still helps his sons whenever needed, always ready with solid advice and valuable feedback.

Martine Corsten

Plant Care & Decoration

Martine is the mother of Jakke and Vic and has supported “the boys” for many years.

Now retired, she still takes care of the plants and decorations in and around the main building — adding her personal touch of warmth and colour wherever she goes.

Jakke Van Eyck

Family

Jakke is a real hands-on person with a big heart for helping others. For many years, he ran Camping Houtum together with his brother Vic, helping to shape it into the warm, family-run place it is today.

In 2024, Jakke decided to take a new path. His passion for helping people led him to work as a firefighter and paramedic — a role he carries out with great enthusiasm.

Fortunately, his other half, Martiena, is still part of the Camping Houtum team, keeping the family spirit alive and well.

Tinne Cornelis

Graphic Designer

Tinne has a creative eye for both online and offline design.

She’s the one behind our map, welcome brochure, staff uniforms and all our graphic posters. Tinne ensures a consistent visual style so that all our printed materials and online media perfectly match one another.

In 2019, Tinne and Vic got married, and together they now have two lovely daughters.

You’ll often spot Tinne strolling around the campsite with Annelotte and Zoë.
