Plenty of fun at ’t Tofste Speelhuis
Right next to Camping Houtum, you’ll find ’t Tofste Speelhuis at Domein de putten. For families with children, it’s a great extra during a stay with us. You can simply walk there from your camping pitch or accommodation.
Inside, children aged 3 to 10 can climb, clamber, slide and explore to their heart’s content. There is a separate toddler area for the youngest children, while those who prefer something a little quieter can visit the clubhouse, with wall games, a chalk wall, colouring tables and various board games.
Still some energy left? There’s also a dance cellar where the music goes on and children can dance and sing along.
The great thing is that children can enjoy the play area in every season. During the colder months, the indoor playground is heated, while air conditioning keeps things cool on hot summer days. With Belgian weather, that certainly comes in handy sometimes.

All that playing is bound to make you hungry and thirsty. At ’t Tofste Speelhuis, you can also enjoy something to eat or drink during your visit. It is self-service: simply order at the counter, take a pager and collect your order as soon as it is ready.
The menu offers familiar dishes for both children and adults. From something warm or sweet in between to a more filling meal. This means there’s no need to interrupt the fun, and afterwards the children can simply carry on playing.
Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted.

A place with a long-standing connection to Camping Houtum
It is no coincidence that Domein de putten is located so close to our campsite. This place has been part of Camping Houtum’s history for many years.
Before our current main building opened, this was where our reception and canteen were located. New campers came here to check in when they arrived, and during their stay it was a place where our guests would meet for a drink and a friendly chat.
When our current main building opened, our reception and catering facilities moved to where you find them today. The old building was given a new purpose and, over the years, developed into Domein de putten as you know it today.
Where our guests once came to check in at reception, children now spend their time playing and having fun.
A lot has changed over the years, but the connection between Domein de putten and Camping Houtum has always remained. And if you stayed with us many years ago, you might even recognise a little piece of the past.
