Since 2015, Camping Houtum has had its own café: Café de Congé. It is not a large café, but one where there is always a sense of holiday. The name says it all: here, you are truly on congé. Inside, the café feels warm and cosy, the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a local beer. Outside, our sunny terrace awaits, where you can soak up the atmosphere of Kasterlee after a cycling trip or a walk. Whether you drop by after a long day outdoors, come for a relaxed chat, or simply feel like unwinding for a while, everything is possible here.
What makes Café de Congé special is that it is a place where nothing is required and everything is allowed. Inside, you enjoy the cosy atmosphere and the comfort of air conditioning during summer. Outside, you can relax on the spacious terrace, enjoy the sun or the evening atmosphere when the torches are lit. The café is also a true meeting place: for campers, but just as much for cyclists, walkers and local residents. Even if you are not staying on the campsite, you are more than welcome to stop by and share in the holiday feeling.

Have you never been here before and are you curious about what makes our café so special? Then we are happy to tell you more.
A place for everyone
Café de Congé is not only for our campers. Cyclists and walkers looking for a place to take a break are more than welcome as well. Local residents from Kasterlee often stop by for a chat, and friends of friends regularly drop in out of curiosity. That is exactly what makes the café so pleasant: everyone feels at home here. The idea that you can simply walk in and immediately become part of the atmosphere keeps everything accessible and genuinely welcoming.

A drink to enjoy
Drink 0.0%
More and more breweries are producing 0.0% beers, and we fully support that. At Café de Congé, you do not have to choose between flavour and alcohol. Our fridge now holds five different alcohol-free beers. And for those who prefer something fresh and colourful, we are happy to prepare a mocktail. That way, everyone can join in, from designated drivers to guests who simply feel like trying something different.
Local beers from Kasterlee
What we are perhaps most proud of are the local beers from Kasterlee. Brewed right in our own municipality by the Kastelse Beer Association. These brewers create beers with character that still feel familiar. You can taste Kastel 2460, an amber-coloured blond beer with a fruity note, the fresh Pumpkin beer, the full-bodied Witte Madam and the smooth dark Duvelskuil. All true products of Kasterlee.
At the reception, you can also find gift packs. Handy as a souvenir or to enjoy again at home while thinking back on your stay.

Pétanque or beach volleyball
Our terrace is directly next to the sports fields. Perfect for a game of pétanque or to burn off some energy with a game of beach volleyball. Afterwards, a refreshing drink tastes even better. Our campers are always happy to share more local tips.
Bingo or card evenings
From April to September, the campsite friends (VKH) association regularly organises card evenings and bingo nights. These evenings are always filled with laughter, games and good company. And the nice thing is: not only campers take part, visitors passing by are welcome to join as well.

The Congé, the local café on the campsite, is made to suit campers: friendly, welcoming and with fair prices.
